Research Café on Oceans
The next edition of our Research Café series brings a spotlight to Oceans, a theme that spans every discipline, sector, and industry.

Research Café
The Research Café is an informal, cross-disciplinary event series that gives researchers the opportunity to network and find collaborative opportunities, as well as share their work in an accessible, engaging format. Each session explores a particular theme or area of interest and features lightning talks, Q&A, and relaxed networking over refreshments.
Led by the West Hub Library Team, the Research Café encourages dialogue between researchers, students, and the public, fostering curiosity, conversation, and community. Everyone is welcome, whether you’re presenting, interested in making connections, or simply curious to learn something new.

Small Grants Programme
The Small Grants Programme exists to help ideas come to life at the West Hub. Through two funding streams, the Community Fund and the Researchers Fund. We support University members to run creative, collaborative, and impactful activities in the building.
This could include public engagement events, skills workshops, exhibitions, student-led initiatives, or interdisciplinary meetups. Funding rounds take place throughout the year, and recipients receive support from the West Hub team to plan, promote, and deliver their projects. If you’ve got an idea that aligns with our open, inclusive ethos, we’d love to hear from you.

Wellbeing Programme
The Wellbeing Programme is our commitment to supporting the mental, physical, and emotional health of everyone who uses the Hub. We offer a variety of regular sessions throughout the year — from weekly yoga, Pilates, and strength training to mindfulness workshops, digital wellbeing sessions, and seasonal highlights like the Wellbeing Festival.
These activities are open to students, researchers, staff, and the wider Cambridge community, and are designed to create space for balance, rest, and self-care within the demands of everyday life. Looking to energise, unwind, or refocus? You’ll find something here to support your wellbeing.

Skills Lab
The Skills Lab is a hands-on workshop series designed to help you develop key academic and professional skills. Open to all, the programme includes sessions such as Present Like a Pro, Poster Like a Pro, Introduction to Computer Languages, and Information Skills, offering practical, confidence-building support at every stage of your career.
Led by expert facilitators, including the West Hub Library Team, the workshops are suitable for students, researchers, and professionals looking to grow their capabilities in a collaborative, supportive environment. Be it polishing a skill or learning something new, the Skills Lab is here to help you succeed.

Content Creators Club
The Content Creators Club is a practical workshop series built around the West Hub’s state-of-the-art Media Lab. Designed for individuals and teams looking to create high-quality digital content, the Club offers hands-on guidance in podcasting, filming, editing, storytelling, and media presentation.
