The West Hub sits at the heart of the Cambridge West Innovation District, offering a new and unique meeting place for people to connect and socialise. It represents a modern University approach to learning spaces, shared-use resources, and integrated library services.
Open and accessible to all departments at the University, as well as to members of the public, the co-working Hub enables new ways for academics, researchers, students, staff, businesses, and the wider community to learn, collaborate, and socialise through the flexible spaces it offers. This three-storey development, which includes a shop, cafeteria, and the site’s first bar, also houses a curated library collection and is designed to be a sustainable, inclusive focal point for the community.
Event Support
Our flexible, fully equipped spaces support a variety of formats, including teaching, exhibitions, informal meetups, hybrid conferences, large-scale talks and even yoga. We offer end-to-end support, from AV and technical setup to risk assessment guidance and on-the-day coordination, ensuring everything runs smoothly.

Library Services
Delivered by University of Cambridge Libraries and Archives, the West Hub Library Services are a pioneering reimagining of traditional library resources, seamlessly integrated into the West Hub to support collaboration, creativity, and focused study. Unlike conventional libraries, these services are blended with dynamic and flexible workspaces, digital resources, and community-driven programming, creating an environment that caters to both individual research and group innovation.
AV & IT Services
The West Hub provides integrated AV and IT services to support teaching, collaboration, and events of all scales. The in-house team offers expert assistance ranging from routine IT support to complex multi-room configurations. Services include the facilitation of hybrid seminars, presentations, and live-streamed content, all delivered with high-quality equipment and reliable on-site support to ensure a seamless experience.
Food & Beverage
The West Hub offers a variety of food and drink options on the ground floor, including the Hub Coffee Bar for pastries and barista coffee, the Hub Canteen for breakfast and hot lunches, the Italian Corner for fresh pizzas, sandwiches, and pasta, and the W Café & Bar for brunch, small plates, and evening drinks. Catering services are also available to support seminars, conferences, and events, with menus tailored to different occasions and dietary requirements.
Retail & Post Office
Located on the ground floor of the West Hub, the Post Office & Shop makes it easy to pick up everyday essentials and take care of postal needs in one place. From snacks, drinks, and ready meals to toiletries, stationery, and household items, it’s stocked to keep you going throughout the day. The Post Office provides postage, packaging, and online shopping returns, perfect for busy staff, students, and visitors.
Spaces
The West Hub is designed to bring people together across three vibrant levels. The Ground Floor is a lively, welcoming space with a variety of food and drink options, a post office and store, and a distinctive indoor green space. The First Floor offers a dynamic, social environment with flexible event rooms, open seating for group study or informal meetings, and access to the Electronic Legal Deposit terminal. On the Second Floor, you’ll find focused study areas, the Hub Library collections, hybrid meeting rooms, and the Media Lab for creative projects such as podcasting and video production.
