The West Hub Library offers both Physical Services and Digital Services to support students, researchers, staff, and members of the public across the University of Cambridge and beyond. Our services are designed to meet your needs in person and online, with additional dedicated support for students and staff working in the following departments and programmes:

Digital Services

The West Hub Library offers digital services that extend support beyond the building, keeping users connected on campus or remotely. A wide selection of online services and resources are available, including 1-2-1 support, ebooks, databases, subject guides, and reading lists. Personalised help is provided through one-to-one virtual sessions, with additional opportunities to develop skills through expert-led online training. These services ensure that learning and research can be supported anytime, anywhere.

Research Café

The Research Café is an informal, cross-disciplinary event series that gives researchers the opportunity to network and find collaborative opportunities, as well as share their work in an accessible, engaging format. Each session explores a particular theme or area of interest and features lightning talks, Q&A, and relaxed networking over refreshments.

Led by the West Hub Library Team, the Research Café encourages dialogue between researchers, students, and the public, fostering curiosity, conversation, and community. Everyone is welcome, whether you’re presenting, interested in making connections,  or simply curious to learn something new.

Skills Lab

The Skills Lab is a hands-on workshop series designed to help you develop key academic and professional skills. Open to all, the programme includes sessions such as Present Like a Pro, Poster Like a Pro, Introduction to Computer Languages, and Information Skills—offering practical, confidence-building support at every stage of your career.

Led by expert facilitators, including the West Hub Library Team, the workshops are suitable for students, researchers, and professionals looking to grow their capabilities in a collaborative, supportive environment. Interested in polishing a skill or learning something new, the Skills Lab is here to help you succeed.

Foundation year

The West Hub provides a selection of print materials relevant to the Foundation Year course. Additional books and resources can be found online, or through faculty and college libraries. While everyone is welcome to use the West Hub’s space and services, additional specialist library support for Foundation Year students is available at your college library, other faculty libraries, as well as the University Library.
